About John
John Aldrich is a producer/editor/DP based in Austin, Texas. He has made several feature length documentaries, among them The River and the Wall (Editor/Cinematographer), An Unreal Dream (Co-Producer, Editor, Camera), Audubon (Producer, Editor, DP), Let The Fire Burn (Assistant Producer), The Russian Five (Producer/Cinematographer). He is currently in development or production on Above It All (Producer/Editor/DP), Cowboy Bourbon (Producer/Editor/Cinematographer) and Chili Queens and Fajita Kings (Director/Producer/Editor).
Originally from Florida, Aldrich attended the University of Texas at Austin's School of Film (RTF '94) and earned a Master's Degree in Documentary Filmmaking from the University of Florida's Documentary Institute (MAMC '00). He then worked in the Washington, D.C. area for a decade, seven of those as a producer/editor/shooter for National Geographic, producing material for Yahoo, MSN, AOL, APTN, Apple, and the music performance series Geo Sessions.
Aldrich returned to Austin in 2010 and has worked on a variety of short and feature length documentary projects as well as projects for SXSW and Austin City Limits Festival among others. He films with RED Cameras, Zeiss lenses and edits on several platforms, primarily DaVinci Resolve.
He is married to his college sweetheart Soo and is the proud father of Mason (age 20) and Miles (age 16).
